What Can I Catch With This Rig?
One of the most versatile rig you can troll is a pre rigged ballyhoo. The big three this rig works well for is Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, and tuna. But the possibilities are endless when trolling.
How Do I Use These Pre Made Ballyhoo Rigs?
- Start by attaching a ball bearing snap swivel to your mainline. Try and always use ball bearing snap swivel because it really helps eliminate your line twisting but a normal snap swivel can be used in a pinch.
- Attach your ball bearing snap swivel to the fixed loop at the top of the rig.
- Then rig the ballyhoo and tuck the chin weight under the gills.
- Then stick the straight piece if rigging wire straight through the head of the ballyhoo.
- Once the rigging wire is all the way through then you can thread the rigging spring onto the piece of hardwire. (See photos below.)
