Originally developed in 2009 during Russells early competition days, the pattern was inspired by a mentors unique approach to streamer weighting. Over time, it evolved into a simpler, more effective flybecause Russell firmly believes the best patterns rely on three materials or fewer, and the Hardbody Leech is no exception.
This fly sinks fast, swims with an incredibly lifelike leech movement, and hides the weight beautifully, making it a versatile weapon for both moving and still water. While it began life as a heavy anchor fly, its since proven deadly for stillwater trout and has even notched wins in events like the Denver Carp Slam.
