Rigging: Use chain or ball bearing swivel between leader and line.
Suggested leader lenght:
- Jigging: 3 to 6 feet
- Spin Casting: 2 to 3 feet
- Trolling: 2 to 4 feet
Jigging for Salmon:Lower the MacDeep to depth where fish are feeding. Raise the rod tip 3 to 4 feet, the quickly lower the tip to allow the lure to free-fall. Most strikes will occur while the lure is dropping. When you feel a strike give a firm pull on the line and begin to play your fish.
Jigging for Bottom Fish:Drop your MacDeep to the bottom, raise about 2 feet and begin to jig. Most strikes will occur within 5 feet of the bottom. On smooth, sandy bottoms flatfish will take you MacDeep when it is lying on the bottom or being gently hopped about.
